🐱James 1: 12-18; Parable: The Lost Son: Luke 15:11-32
📖 Luke is the only Gospel to tell of this parable. One of the reasons is thought to be due to Luke’s focus on the outcasts & sinners. His writings were provided as guidance to those who might be lost by giving hope that there is a road to redemption. The young son is set with all he needs, yet he follows his own path. Not ready to admit to his failure he works on his own to fill his needs, but when still struggling, he turns to the one who had always provided. He humbly goes home, repents & accepts whatever he would be given. Just as it is with the unconditional love of God, it is a joyous celebration.
💭This parable reminds me of my own testimony & why I included it in the journal. I was the one who took all the blessings I had in my life that God had blessed me with & I went on my own. I squandered what he put in front of me & wasted those opportunities by following my own selfish path. When that didn’t work, I knew I had to change & I started studying & praying again, but still with a selfish need & not getting satisfied. Then I came to the end of the line & was desperate on my knees, my heart fully to God asking for that help to satisfy my heart with him & for him to save me from myself. I was lost & with all my baggage from my years doing it my way, God changed my heart. It was a celebration! Now I find that joy every day that I purposefully have a reunion with God & when I can share that same love with someone who might be “Lost”.
✝️Are you in need of returning humbly home to ask for forgiveness? Do you celebrate that reunion with God every day? Do you reflect God’s love for “the Lost”?
